Yoga for 50+: Balance, Posture, Core Sunday, May 5, 2019, 1:30 - 4 pm @ Nest Yoga Oakland
The third quarter of one’s life can be full of surprises: you may be working at a higher and more intense level, and/or there’s retirement, an empty nest, aging parents, loved ones passing away or moving on. Menopause is upon you and “you ache in the places where you used to play.” (Leonard Cohen) How can Yoga help our bodies become more strong and resilient, our spirits buoyant and our minds calm?
This is the first workshop of a three-part series, and will focus on finding and working with the deep core musculature of your torso. We will fine-tune our sense of balance in standing poses and strengthen the upper torso and shoulders for supported backbends.
The next two workshops in the series are on the calendar! Part 2 will be on Sunday, October 13. Part 3 will meet on February 9, 2020 -- which is also a Sunday. Same time, same place. You do not need to have attended a prior workshop to attend any of this series. In the upcoming workshops we'll tackle twists, inversions, forward bends, sun salutations, breath work and some philosophy. Stay tuned!
